Trademark – Mid-Tier Associate

The Position

• Conduct trademark clearance searches and analyze search results to provide advice regarding trademark availability.
• Handle domestic and international prosecution of trademark applications.
• Manage a large docket of trademark prosecution matters, ensuring timely responses to office actions and adherence to deadlines.
• Assist with trademark enforcement matters, including cease and desist letters, opposition/cancellation proceedings, social media takedowns, and domain name disputes.
• Support other attorneys on trademark and copyright litigation matters.
• Stay up-to-date on current trademark law and practice.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the firm’s Brand Protection team.

This position can be located in our Chicago, Madison, Milwaukee or Raleigh office.

Requirements:

• J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
• Excellent academic credentials
• At least 3 years of U.S. and international trademark prosecution and enforcement experience at a law firm

The annual compensation range for this role in our Illinois office ranges from $200,000 - $245,000. The salary range reflects our good-faith expectation for this role at the time of posting. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, and internal equity. Individuals in this role are eligible to participate in Michael Best’s bonus program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions. This position is considered full-time and is therefore eligible to participate in employer-sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, vision, as well as elective or voluntary life, disability, accident coverage, paid holidays, paid time off, and eligible reimbursements. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the firm’s 401k plan.
